Heyy!! Medium fellas 👋🏼, I am Shaivya !! A Statistics Grad student residing in Fremont. I am happy to announce this is my graduating semester 🤟🏼Yayy!! Exciting and stressful at the same time.

It’s 2021 ‼️ A year started with the news of different vaccine approvals all across the world followed by the tech companies making it to headlines. Ahh!! Where to start from? Bumble launching its IPO, Calendly raising $350 million capital and Stripe investing in a fintech Fast. 🙌🏼

Twitter was in news as well and it intrigued me 🙃. Earlier this january they were in news when they disabled the twitter handle of former president of US. And here they are in news again and it’s all about acquisition. Twitter recently acquired Breaker a podcasting🎤 company to help them build twitter spaces.

Twitter Spaces ⁉️ It’s a live place to come together and is built around the voices of the people using the twitter community. It’s still in beta mode. Yet a wonderful place to have informative conversations, wherein there is a feature of viewing live transcripts 👀. I have been hearing quite a lot about twitter spaces and it’s features mostly through my friends😛 as i am not on twitter but fellas 🔜 🔜 . I have been using a similar platform Clubhouse 👋🏼 an invite only audio space and so i can vouch for the audio based platform experience simply amazing 💯. I believe these kind of social connectivity platforms will be huge in coming days.

Going back to acquisitions, twitter also acquired Revue a dutch newsletter platform. A great platform that supports long-format writing and a more in-depth narrative. Even though newsletters seem old schooled i believe they are an effective way to maintain a healthy readership through direct subscription.

So why Twitter made these moves? Are they trying to become diverse channel for their users? Yes, they want to be one stop shop for voice and text experience for their users, delivering an awesome experience 🌟 to their community. They are also trying to monetize 💵 it which they have not been able to do in past. Good luck Twitter 🙌🏼

Indeed, it’s been good start to 2021 👌🏼 I am definitely looking forward to more in upcoming months. Any thoughts on what should i write about in the next blog 💭
